A New Year Update

Hello friends,

Let me just say that a lot happened to Founders House Publishing during 2022. The business nearly folded and is running at a greatly reduced capacity while I'm fighting to sort all of the issues out so I can keep things operational.

Founders House is in the midst of a major transition. This has affected every aspect of the business. There haven't been new titles released for months. Many of our books are out of print and back with their owners who are pursuing other options for future publication. MYTHIC, the company's sci-fi/fantasy magazine has been pushed into hiatus repeatedly but is now slowly coming back to life.

I'm making plans for the new year so I can stage a comeback. Again, Founders House will look different in many ways. The areas I aim to focus on will be different. Beyond revival of the magazine, I want to do more anthologies. Also, I will be adding more of my own titles to the list. It remains to be seen if I will reopen the company to books by single authors again. The only exception I can see happening now is those books that I would be co-authoring with other people.

In this way, it will be like Founders House is returning to its roots. When I started it back in 2009, I saw it as a vehicle for publishing my work, first and foremost. This was just as the indie publishing revolution was getting off the ground. No one knew the how big the impact of Amazon's Kindle would be.

I know I didn't. I was completely clueless about so much back then. I've learned a lot since then. I've also made some serious mistakes along the way. I'm still paying for them now. But I hope I've gained some wisdom that will serve me will in 2023.

Stay tuned. There will be more updates.
